History

THE Polytechnic Gregorio Urbano Gilbert (Reform Plan) was founded on 02 December 1974 Beginning its work in teaching Secondary Liceo José Dubeau, where he remained for four (4) years or so. In 1978 it moved to its current facility located at José Eugenio Kunhardt.
In 1983 I was baptized with the name of Gregorio Urbano Gilbert. In the beginning it worked with the system of reform. This system was implanted in 1970 in Dominican Republic, with various centers throughout the country and one of them is the Gregorio Urbano Gilbert de Puerto Plata.
Here the student started from first Reform (7th.) And finished sixth Reform (4th Baccalaureate.), This center represents a single school from seventh to fourth high school; is not divided into primary and secondary.
In 1988, then-Secretary of Fine Arts Education and Religious Affairs, ordered the System Reform and the schools that were governed by the reform system was abolished, had to adapt their lesson plans and materials to the traditional system.
Moreover, the Polytechnic to achieve meaningful learning is supported by several ordinances, of which we can mention: 1'95, 3'99, 5'200 and currently in the Technical and Professional Manner by 2'2006. The Polytechnic was affected by the earthquake on 20 September 2003, which led to the educational authorities to relocate the University O & M and the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA) and cubicarlas offices opposite the market square.

Our academic, administrative and technical staff have been selected according to the parameters required by the Ministry of Education, constantly subjected to ongoing review to ensure full implementation of the educational philosophy of the institution; contribute to national development, forging human beings able to be agents of change and inserted in this globalized world, with strong spiritual values.
